Delete vs Deactivate
Two distinct actions are available when removing a client from active caseload:
| Action | Behaviour | When to use |
|---|---|---|
| Deactivate | Non-destructive. Client moves to Inactive status, remains in system, can be reactivated. | Standard lifecycle management — client no longer receiving services |
| Delete | Permanent and irreversible. Removes client from all lists (Active/Inactive/Incomplete/All) and revokes portal access. Requires a confirmation dialog (Dismiss / Delete). | Mistakes, duplicates, or bad data only |
Default to Deactivate. Delete should be a secondary, explicitly destructive option, always gated behind a confirmation dialog.
